Why oh why is there still this notion that there is such a strong adversarial relationship between APS/Wencor and EDIG? I can understand why there may be some wrangling about the digEsystem, but it seems to be as RP suggests re: digEplayer. As long as there is business to be done (which is in the best interest of both), they`ll be working together. Why is such a basic concept soooo difficult to accept?
Agreed that Wencor and EDIG will be working together in the near term. IMO, that is obvious since we have been told $1.6M in Q revs and / or orders. EDIG has no other known customer. So, a good guess is its mostly Wencor dollars with the possibility of some NREs dollars for MED E7 or other unknown.
However, it is equally obvious to me that Wencor wants to control the manufacturing and even find a replacement DVAP for Wencor`s trademarked digEplayer. Why else did they go through the motions with IMS? I don`t think the embedded system is that viable unless they can get a legacy carrier who has the money to buy. The portable IFE will be a steady market for Wencor. How big and if EDIG stays in the Wencor`s digEplayer forever is, at best, a WAG.
If you were Brent Wood, would you not look for a better mouse trap at a cheaper price? They are a large distributor with a pile of qualified purchasing managers. Think any of them would like to show the boss they figured this little IFE thing out? Remember, IFE is still a small portion of Wencor`s business....not exactly top of mind at executive staff meetings.
In case I have not mentioned it, EDIG needs to sell something to somebody.
all worth less than the price paid....John
