Damage control from IMS...

It’s Full Speed Ahead for IMS As It Decides to Remain Independent

“IMS Inflight remains committed to leadership in portables and wireless, content management, and data management in the inflight entertainment industry,” Joseph Renton, President of IMS said.

“It is important for our customers, partners, suppliers and employees to know that withdrawing from this deal does not compromise our ability to move forward with our aggressive plans.

“Nothing has changed except that the two companies were unable to agree upon the future direction of the merged entities,” said Renton. “IMS will continue to operate exactly as we have been. We have lost no momentum and look forward to new product announcements in Hamburg.”

Earlier this month, IMS signed a letter of intent with Wencor under which IMS and prior Wencor acquisition, APS, would have been merged into a new company with Wencor having majority ownership, but with day-to-day operations run by the IMS management team.

“It is very important to IMS and its management team to continue to pursue the approach which has led to our significant growth in the market during the last year,” said Renton. “The IMS team is made up of people with extensive experience in the industry in their respective fields. Ensuring the ability to leverage that experience is a big part of who we are, and is more important to us than some of the advantages that would result from joining a larger organization.”
