Varsity Mobile Launches, Offering Original Programming Created Specifically for Mobile Devices; Sprint to Offer Varsity Mobile`s Teen-Created Programs

Teens say, ``I want my M(obile) TV!`` Varsity Mobile, the first wireless entertainment channel for teens, launched today. The mobile entertainment market is expected to grow to $1.5 billion by 2009 and teens are expected to drive the market growth and technology innovation. Varsity Mobile, which can be seen on Channel 29 on Sprint PCS Vision(SM) Multimedia Services, offers user-created content, programming developed specifically for mobile devices and user interactivity, allowing teens to use SMS to vote for their favorite videos.

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2005--Varsity Media Group, a leading provider of broadcast media dedicated to teens, today announced the formation of Varsity Mobile, which will deliver the best in teen entertainment programming -- including user-created and third party videos -- direct to mobile devices. Sprint (NYSE:FON) will offer Varsity Mobile`s programming, which targets the large contingent of teenagers with mobile devices.

Launched last summer, Sprint PCS Vision(SM) Multimedia Services broadcasts news, sports and entertainment video clips live and on demand to Sprint multimedia handsets. Subscribers can catch up on breaking news, who`s wearing what on the red carpet or how their hometown team fared at their convenience. According to market research firm Frost & Sullivan, the mobile video market is expected to grow to a $1.5 billion market by 2009, up from $28.8 million last year.

Varsity Mobile is the first company to offer user-created content that is written, directed and produced by teenagers for mobile devices. Also unique in the Varsity Mobile offering is viewer interactivity. Many of Varsity Mobile`s programs allow viewers to vote via their mobile devices for their favorite character or video clip.

``Teens are obviously a valuable and influential demographic driving the development and functionality of mobile technologies,`` said Dale Knoop, general manager -- Multimedia Services, Sprint. ``Through its unique relationship with this audience and high schools throughout the country, Varsity Mobile enables Sprint to connect with teens locally and nationally.``

According to MindShare Research, more than half of teenagers (ages 13-17) now own a wireless phone, an increase of 43 percent since last year. The research also shows that teens with wireless phones tend to be heavier users of other media, such as the Internet, radio, newspapers and magazines, than do teens without wireless phones.

``Varsity Mobile pioneered user-created content in linear television and video on demand (VOD) platforms in 1999 and now we are the first programmer to provide user-created content for mobile devices,`` said Kelly Hoffman, Chairman and CEO of Varsity Media Group. ``Teens want to express themselves and they do it by creating their own content. We`ve seen it with blogs, Podcasts and now video blogs. Wireless is simply another avenue for teens to showcase their talents.``

Varsity Mobile is available now on Channel 29 for $4.99 per month to subscribers of the Sprint PCS Vision Multimedia Service. Currently the channel offers four programs that teens can watch on demand:

-- Teen Talent Search(TM): Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but talent is in the eye of the voter. America`s most talented teens go head-to-head in VarsityMobile`s Teen Talent Search. Teens compete against each other in eight different categories, with the audience voting through SMS or online for their favorites each week.

-- Swept Away TV: Swept Away TV features live performances, interviews and videos by some of today`s hottest artists. Written, edited, filmed and directed by teens, Swept Away TV gives viewers an all-access pass to bands like Gavin Degraw, the Black Eyed Peas and Ryan Cabrera.

-- Student Studio(TM): Varsity Mobile saves you a front-row seat at the national premieres of movies exclusively produced, directed and written by teens. Catch Student Studio for the most original, innovative movies this side of Hollywood.

-- Varsity Extreme(TM): Count on Varsity Mobile to put you in the middle of the action. This thrill-packed show takes you deep inside the wild world of extreme sports. Along with its existing archive of teen created, extreme sports content, Varsity Mobile is working on an agreement with one of the largest extreme sports content distributors in the world to deliver mobisodes to wireless.
