Viewsonic`s View Pad Tablet Manufactured by Hon Hai

Taipei, Nov. 15, 2010 (CENS)--To ride on tablet PC booms, Viewsonic has released its newest tablet View Pad that is allegedly manufactured by the world`s largest EMS (electronics manufacturing service) provider, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. Also supplying other tablets to Apple and HP, the supplier has come up as the biggest winner in the industry now.

View Pad has a 7-inch touchscreen, and incorporates communication capability, video and audio entertainments and GPS function, able to serve as a smartphone, netbook PC and e-book reader.

Selling for only NT$14,900, the comparatively economical tablet has been heavily preordered worldwide. For example, Viewsonic has received orders from consumers in Taiwan for over 50,000 units of View Pad so far, though the device has yet to be launched.

Viewsonic is confident of its entry into the global market for tablet PCs with View Pad, and aims to snap up a slice of the market pie next year, when global tablet sales will exceed over 40 million units, even though Apple will continue reigning over the market with its iPad.

On the other hand, although Viewsonic has yet to confirm the name of View Pad`s manufacturer, Hon Hai, however, has been believed the selected one. Industry insiders have based the view on Hon Hai`s unmatchable manufacturing capability and influence in its industry, which have been proven along with the firm just garnering Apple and HP`s order for tablets for sale next year.

Noteworthy is that Viewsonic`s 10.1-inch View Pad that will be released in December is also said to be manufactured by Hon Hai.

With orders for tablets from different clients, Hon Hai has been ahead of its peers, like Qisda Corporation and Quanta Computer Inc., which have respectively won orders only from Dell and RIM, in the game.
