deBeers,
I understand what Apple`s contribution was beyond portalplayer`s involvement. I also understand portalplayer profited handsomely from its role.
The discussion was to equate how EDIG might benefit from having similar success should its DVAP/design be licensed in a similar fashion in this new product category. And now that Apple has apparently committed to a video-pod, more attention will be shed on the handheld video-content market.
EDIG is involved with preloaded content on players that interface with kiosks for future content acquisition. Content will likely have a time expiration, so after 30 days or so, the content will expire...requiring no need to return a movie. This is a big market opportunity, and the company whose DVAP fits, will benefit. Portalplayer was just an example, a parallel, for illustration.
portalplayer serves as a real time example of how these new markets get exploited for profit by niche players.
That is why management states the DVAP will be EDIG`s revenue driver...and that certainly is not to diminish EDIG`s IFE efforts.
