IPod suppliers on rise following Apple Computer results (AAPL, SYNA, PLAY, STX, SGTL) By Rex Crum

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Apple Computer`s (AAPL) upbeat third-quarter results gave a boost to the companies that supply components for Apple`s market-leading iPod music players. PortalPlayer (PLAY) rose $2.26, or, almost 10%, to $25.58, Sigmatel Inc. (SGTL) climbed $1.31, or more than 7%, to $19.05, Synaptics Inc. (SYNA) , rose 73 cents, or 3.6%, to $21.10, and Seagate Technology (STX) added 19 cents to trade at $19.71 after Apple said Wednesday it shipped 6.16 million iPods during its third quarter. The iPod shipments were 616% higher than the year-ago period.

Can Kino carve out a niche similar to this? If it remotely approaches this type of growth, well, enough said.

The kind of companies it will take to drive content in a kiosk format and provide DVAP handhelds with protected content should have the type of clout not disimilar to Apple`s.

Afterall, the ipod remade Apple and drove its stock 4 fold, not to mention its suppliers, as illustrated above.

Simple product impact, new markets and an opportunity attained. Somebody`s going to do it with DVAP. EDIG expects that to be announced this fiscal year.

I am waiting...
