First: Why would Wencor be pissed at EDig because it found out they had to pay EDig $650.00 per unit to manufacture the DP?? I have grave doubts Wencor DID NOT know that going into the purchase of APS.
Even if they did not WHAT`S THE BIG DEAL ABOUT THAT? Someone has to make the doggone thing. Even if Wencor took over the manufacture of the DP it would still cost them real dollars to do so. I do not know how much but how much could Wencor save in that process doing it themselves.
Then there is the manpower in finding or keeping a manufacturer. Someone from Wencor would have to be involved in the process. Another cost, and another headache. It would seem to me if all Wencor had to do was place a call to EDig to order a 1,000 units it would be much more efficient all around.
Then there is the problem of EDig`s MOS, owned and patented by EDig and the ``guts`` of the DP. If Wencor controlled the manufacturing of the DP then it stands to reason it would control the makeup of the DP. That means any by play between WEncor and whoever they use to manufacture the DP would have to include the use of the MOS and exactly what it is and how it is used.
DO YOU THINK EDIG WOULD ALLOW THE CORE OF WHO IT IS TO BE USED BY ANY OTHER ENTITY WITHOUT ITS CONTROL OR WITHOUT FEES BEING PAID TO EDIG FOR THAT PRIVELIGE?
I DON`T
So therefore we are back to square one. If Wencor decides to use their own manufacturer with the MOS still the guts of the DP they are going to pay EDig for the right. If Wencor decides to manufacture an IFE device WITHOUT the MOD then it is no longer the DIGEPLAYER is it???????
