In other words , although flash memory was generally known as a storage media , flash memory was
not considered to be an appropriate storage media for use in a handheld recording and flashback devices.
The invention of " 774 patent " which is embodied in the flash back , overcame the short coming of the
prior art portable audio recording and playback devices , by using flash memory in a novel way - as the
sole memory for storage of the received processed audio . as depicted in Fig 1 and 2 of the " 774 patent "
flash memory replaced the prior art tape cassettes then commonly used in handheld recording and
playback devices.
