In response.... You can create your list of EDIG`s IFE and that of the competition any way you want. I`m just saying that there are probably a bunch of IFE providers out there beyond those listed.

As for Connexion, perhaps I should be more clear... They are not a competitor, nor an IFE provider (and hence shouldn`t be on a list of IFE offerings). Connexion is a service to connect in-flight devices to the net in real time. It`s a CONNECTION (hence the name). It is not a device you look at or get entertainment from, but a conduit for real time content from the ``outside`` to an on-board device (e.g., digEsystem). Think of it as your modem.

Nice that United and Verizon got FAA approval...but if you read your link carefully you`ll see that the FAA approval is ONLY for in-cabin wireless (that`s WITHIN the cabin). The issues with the FCC remain to get content into the cabin. See the last paragraph:

``United’s plans are subject to a major proviso, however. Verizon, which already supplies the airline with terrestrial-based voice and narrowband data messaging services, will soon go head-to-head with AirCell in the FCC auction for the air-to-ground (ATG) spectrum needed to deliver broadband services in US airspace. Industry observers believe that, as currently constituted, the Federal Communications Commission’s band plan and auction rules will effectively make it possible for only one company to offer broadband service, leaving the other without a position in the US domestic air transport marketplace.``

My interpretation of this is that nobody, domestically, has broadband service to aircraft. Once the FCC does their auction, the winner will be in the enviable position of control of domectic airborne broadband. Others will acquire access from the winner. So maybe the way to think of this is that IFE is like your PC, Connexion and their competition are like your modem, and Verizon/Aircell (whoever wins) is like your (broadband) ISP (DSL/Cable).

Hope this helps, and I am of course open to corrections, and more so to an affirmation that my understanding is correct cuz,

I KNOW nuttin`!
