I couldn't find a picture of the eX2 by Panisonic but the product description seems to describe a different system than the one depicted in the Lufhanza pictures. It works via fiber optics and there is no mention of a touch screen which I would think would be a strong selling point. There was a test done in 2007 for Lufthanza on an Airbus. See cut and paste below, followed by a link to an eTES picture

Panasonic Avionics eX2 IFE solution performs

well on Recent Airbus A380 Route Proving

Flights

Lake Forest, California, (March 30, 2007)

Panasonic Avionics Corporation reports the

successful first week of in-flight operability testing for its eX2 In-Flight Entertainment (IFE)

system installed aboard the Airbus A380 aircraft that underwent high-profile route proving flights

last week. Beyond the normal route proving tests, the Airbus Operability Demonstration flights

enables Panasonic Avionics to provide an In-Flight Entertainment System proven under

revenue flight conditions in advance of the first Airbus A380 delivery.

The Airbus A380 MSN 007 aircraft, jointly operated by Lufthansa and Airbus, flew to New York,

Hong Kong, and Washington DC, with a 90 minute turn around time between flights. This route

proving campaign also marked the first passenger flights of the A380 to the USA

.

The A380 aircraft was piloted by two Airbus Captains and two Lufthansa captains, and carried a

full cabin of approximately 500 guests of Airbus and Lufthansa. The guests included VIPs,

journalists, Airbus and Lufthansa employees and test crews, as well as a number of members

from Panasonic Avionics’ own IFE System route proving test team.

The eX2 In-Flight Entertainment System performed well during the entire flight, including when

passengers were asked to carry out system stress tests by simultaneously selecting the same

movies and games

.

The post-flight feedback on the IFE System provided by the passengers

was very enthusiastic. One passenger, who regularly tests IFE systems, noted that despite the

level of stress on the system put on by the passengers, the eX2 System was stable, very

responsive, and never missed a beat delivering content flawlessly. Another passenger stated

that Panasonic’s eX2 IFE system was the "New Standard".

Sylvain Bauguil, Panasonic’s System Integration Engineer who was onboard during this

campaign reported, "This system is really the most responsive and stable we have ever put on

board an aircraft and the quality of digital video is quite impressive".

The eX2 System is the fifth generation of Panasonic IFE products. Its outstanding performance

and growth capacity is the result of engineering “know how” accumulated over 26 years. The

fully digitalized architecture is based on a high-capacity Enterprise Class media server and a

The link below show a picture of the eTES by Rockwell Collins. it is definitely not the one depicted in the Lufhanza pic's.

I would say that the jury is still out but the deliberations way on the side of the Lufthanza system being eDigitals second gen eVu2. Nice find sman998. You can be foreman of the jury! How do you rule?
