Out here in CA, the advice would probably be to shoot him dead. There have been cases here where people have broken in, were in the house threatening, got shot and injured, went to jail for the break in, but then sued the homeowner and won! Mind boggling! Civil jury probably thought the evidence was circumstantial and that there was probable doubt!
