Don't you see it more prudent for management to stake its warchest into buying other businesses that generate recurring profits prior to accelerating the funding on the R&D front?

I like to see R&D as part of the mix, especially for an engineering company, but they need to take care of the fundamentals first, before funding something whose timing for return on capital is unknown as is the case with R&D...especially if one is a public company.

I think the crux of your point is that we have no idea, as investors, as to where they plan to take this company with its new warchest. That is a very reasonable question. I think it is just a wee bit too premature to formulate and commit to something when you are this early in the process of generating captial, but I certainly would encourage them to share their thoughts and vision...I encourage that, in fact, but I will allow them to change course should events unfold to dictate another course of action.

I will say that it is much nicer to see the company pulling in millions of dollars without issuing one share of stock or paying one dime in interest in the process.
