"I have celebrated the positive as much as everybody else." drven
Not even close my friend.
No, I have rarely complained because it does me no good as management's decisions are theirs. I have no control. I have made suggestions and offered exposure to sources they did not have access to but no, I don't spend my time complaining to them.
When I have been disappointed I have had to make a decision to stay or go. Fortunately the attraction of the patent potential overrode any decision to exit.
As for IFE and the eVU, I have mixed feelings as to whether or not they should pursue that market. Certainly they were innovative, being the first to enter that market segment, and they have a very competitive product, but there is more competiion now and they are at the mercy of the economics of the airline industry, which operates on a shoe string. As demonstrated, that is a bumpy flight.
Should they sell off their IFE division or should they buy out and consolidate the players in that market? I don't now and await more info on that front.
What I do know is why be focused on a market that cannot deliver a profit, especially in light of the IP model, now raking in big margins with little or no risk.
Perhaps all these cross licensing relationships will yield access to new product development, but right now my feelings are to grow through acquisitions rather than feed the R&D pipeline...unless of course, one of their engineers is onto the next iPod.
We should know a lot more in about 10 days.
