At this year’s IFA 2009, Samsung introduced a slew of futuristic and cutting edge products from their home appliances range. Displayed in interactive living spaces, the appliances showcased technology designed to make life simpler and easier while also demonstrating the key technologies and innovations behind the products.

Among the products on display were, ‘Twin,’ their one-door fridge and one-door freezer that can be fitted as part of a built-in design or which could stand together or independent of each other. And, ‘Guiding Light’, a convection microwave oven with a revolutionary triple-distribution heating system and a new feature that guides users through settings such as cooking time and power level, so they can produce high quality, quick and evenly cooked home meals.

Also on display was a designer kitchen, created for Samsung by the prestigious Italian kitchen supplier Scavolini, which provided an environment for Samsung’s new range of built-in integrated appliances that blends minimalist design with cutting edge technology. However, among the products on display at Samsung’s pavilion at IFA 2009, the one that won the visitor’s loudest ‘wow’s was the FUROT II, the latest fully automated robot vacuum cleaner.

The robot cleaner featured a revolutionary navigation system, built-in camera and eight environment sensors that allowed it to move in complete autonomy between target rooms and over carpets and rugs while avoiding furniture and stairs. With the ability to see where it is going and think about the best possible route, this robot was also able to remember where it had been and what it still had to clean. Samsung's vacuuming technology promises to revolutionize the way consumers clean their home.

Samsung’s future digital appliances development centers around the philosophy of smart thinking and smart living, said, Sang Yoon Kim, general manager, home appliances division at Samsung gulf Electronics. “Samsung has researched the usage patterns and cultural behaviors of consumers and is committed to ensuring that our smart appliances dramatically reduce the investment of time and effort in household chores,” he added.
