Venture capital firm fundraising plummeted 82 percent from a year ago, according to a report. In the second quarter of 2009, 25 venture capital firms raised $1.7 billion compared with $9.3 billion raised by 82 firms in the same quarter a year ago, according to the report released Monday by Thomson Reuters and the National Venture Capital Association The fundraising marks a new low in the number of venture capital funds to raise money in a single quarter, second only to that of third quarter 1996, when only 21 venture capital funds reported new funding.
