Doni, this morning I was listening to a radio report about the security risks of ether-net communications for different government agencies. The report said someone did a study and found that many agencies using ethernet were being intercepted/listened to from outside sources. My thoughts ran to the security issues of the digEplayer and how that is secure and therefore desirable enough for studios to be involved. However, I started thinking about the ethernet and wireless transmission of info through out the plane cabin and wondered how would that be secure. Now I am reading about how passangers will be able to receive information onto their laptops from a central server by way of wireless. So how is all this secure? With the Boeing/Connex thing couldn`t someone just make copies on their laptops for later? Is the microOS of EDIG secure even in the ethernet venue? Or will it be that you have to have a digEplayer to watch first run movies or private information ( I still think business jets is going to be a source of revenue for someone with secure content abilities ) Lots of this stuff is too technical for me so I would appreciate your thoughts. I am also wondering if EDIG has figured out a way to make ethernet secure because that would seem to me to be a real need with value to EDIG.
