For any file attribute.....directly from flash, both NAND and NOR. While NOR is a derivative of capacitor type memory(DRAM, SDRAM....etc) having the ability of XIP, it's treated in the same fashion as NAND(not capable of XIP)......This is why I say it's not important the type of memory utilized, they can do the same from a volatile memory as they do with a non volatile memory. Of course the cheapest to produce memory will be utilized and for now that's NAND.

This little pass through paging trick directly from flash is a first and they have patents describing the process in detail. IMO, this same process will carry forward(Read), or backward(write), the signals from any memory type for future or past substrates.

The FlashR patent portfolio (tier 1, IMO) is an acronym for Flash Read only.....if you want to create files, or write, through the same sequence, you're going to come back to e.Digital.

IMO, companies settling on FlashR only are not getting full rights.

IMO, the only companies settling with full rights are Olympus and Casio...the rest are FlashR only....where LG and Avid included Xlicensing in settling, Sanyo and Nikon settled for the least IP without Xlicensing.
