Qualcomm, Broadcom in 'advanced' settlement talks

SAN FRANCISCO—Qualcomm Inc. Wednesday (April 22) postponed its scheduled quarterly earnings release until next week, citing advanced litigation settlement talks with rival fabless chip vendor Broadcom Corp.

Qualcomm (San Diego) and Broadcom (Irvine, Calif.) have in recent years been embroiled in multiple patent infringement litigations.

Qualcomm said the two parties are discussing a global settlement of all disputes which, if reached, would have an impact on the company's financial results for the fiscal second quarter.
