PM, rules etc.

Agora's 6 rules apply in a PM as well. One can "hide" behind a PM and break these rules, although unless it's reported, nothing happens. If I PM someone, make a personal attack, cuss etc, I have broken the rules.

Now, the posting of one's comments from a PM..my thoughts.

The intent of a PM is for those who feel the need to share their thoughts, to do so without others seeing what the exchange is about. The use of PM's, IMO, allows people to better understand each other, and even air differences without others chiming in, usually causing a spat, when done in public.

I think of it this way...when a friend or business associate says, "this is between you and me, do not share it with anyone, as it is very sensitive information." If the receiving party agrees to keep it private, then repeats it anyway, that person has broken their word.

To quote LL a while back, "private does not mean public."

Folks, this is an ethical issue in my book.

Why do we need Agora to explain this to us?
