I did not post this to accuse anyone here of being a basher according to the definitions in the article. But merely to point out that constant negativity can and does have an effect on a board like this and indeed on our stock. It's only common sense.
I don't consider a poster to be negative just because they are disappointed that something did or did not happen, or post what is bad news. The negativity lies within the member themselves and is reflected in post after post after post...I guess they just feel negative inside? I consider it a "form" of bashing when this carries on for a long period of time or the vast majority of their comments consist of negative and disruptive posts.
When this occurs it polarizes a group, sides are formed up. Normally tolerant people become more sensitive (or thin skinned if you prefer) this is a group dynamic. Individuals who are the catalysts on both sides knowingly provoke by saying and doing things they are perfectly aware will cause disruption. As mentioned earlier egos are involved and it actually makes them feel good.
Any good manager would immediately remove an individual from the group that created this type of disruption as unhappiness and conflict decrease production in virtually any business.
If someone is truly "hyping" ie; lying, conning or trying to purposefully manipulate others for their own benefit, they should be called to question and summarily dispatched. Likewise anyone who is providing what they "believe" to be factual information should be asked to verify why they believe this to be so (whether it be construed as good or bad news). Members who over the long term serve to disrupt this board and the many people who really do care should not be allowed to continue posting.
I don't mind a good argument/disagreement every now and then, it releases pressure, but what's been going on here for the last year perhaps even two is ridiculous, it's been the downfall of other "once good boards". It's only because of this that I welcome the idea of another board, somewhere I don't have to listen to or participate in the detritus when I can't take it anymore. And an alternative should this board continue it's decent into...whatever.
