e.Digital Corp. (OTC:EDIG) and Fusion Digital Technology Ltd (Fusion) today announce the world's first portable, Personal Video Recorder for downloading audio and video content from Fusion's range of digital TV receivers including the Digifusion FVRT200 (twin tuner 80 Gb digital video recorder (DVR)), the Digifusion FRT200 (twin tuner DTT set-top box) and the Digifusion FRS200 (twin tuner DTH set top box). The revolutionary pPVR(TM) is scheduled to be unveiled at Mediacast 2004 in London May 25 - 27 at Fusion's booth #D12.

Digifusion was the brand name of Fusion Digital Technology Limited, a British consumer electronics company that began trading in 2002, producing a range of digital terrestrial televisions and receivers. Fusion was part owned by Beko, the Turkish electronics giant, who were responsible for all product manufacture.

In 2005 Beko bought out Fusion Digital Technology, and took over the Digifusion brand, but retained the company's UK office in Harrogate.

The most notable Digifusion product to date was the FVRT series of Freeview PVRs, beginning with the FVRT100 in 2004.

If you click on the BeKo link, note the brand DigiFusion....yet it does not appear in the Brands page.

"The code (and the Digifusion name) isn't lost forever, it just got bought out by Turkish electronics giant BEKO who already formed one half of the venture anyway (they manufactured all the boxes from day one).

They used the FVRT200 design to produce an overpriced re-badged clone for Sony for a while, but seem to have abandoned the PVR market since, which is a shame. There are still LCD TV's manufactured under the Digifusion brand however (or there were until recently at least).

Interestingly, BEKO seem to have bought up the defunct Grundig brand too and have now rebranded themselves as Grundig Elektronic, phasing out the BEKO name - http://www.bekoelektronik.com.tr/927... "
