4/25/05 - TotalVid announced it has partnered with OnAir Entertainment, a provider of proprietary media servers designed for use in Wi-Fi Hot-Spots, Hotel IP Networks and Multiple Dwelling Units, to offer mobile mavens access to the latest in exciting and educational videos, right to their wireless laptops.
OnAir Entertainment, working with Hot-Spot operators around the country, is now giving the wireless community access at restaurant, airports and other locations to breath-taking videos from TotalVid in categories including mountain biking, whitewater, anime and world travel.
Imagine this typical scenario. An over-worked business traveler is about to get on a five-hour flight and has already read every interesting book in the gift shop, twice. Spotting a Wi-Fi Hot-Spot in the airport, the traveler accesses, via a portal page, instant downloads from TotalVid`s extensive library of almost 1,000 specialized videos from more than 160 producers. After downloading the desired video, which start at just $1.99, the traveler can enjoy the video anytime, anywhere as many times as needed for seven days. Now rather than being stuck rereading the airline shopping catalog, travelers can experience the thrill of whitewater kayaking through Class 6 rapids, or go on safari in South Africa.
``PC users have long been enjoying the convenience, reliability and extensive range of videos available for download from TotalVid,`` said Karl Quist, General Manager of TotalVid. ``We feel you shouldn`t have to be plugged to a wall to be able to get what you want though, entertaining and educational videos for action sports, anime, and travel enthusiasts.``
``When a person logs on to a Wi-Fi Hot-Spot, we want to provide them not only with reliable and fast connectivity, but also quality content they can enjoy, both while logged on or off,`` said Rand Bleimeister, CEO of OnAir Entertainment. ``TotalVid helps us achieve that goal with their exciting collection of over 700 videos available for download at a very reasonable cost.``
The TotalVid service is unique in that customers can select from almost 1000 downloads for as low as $1.99. After unlimited viewing over a seven day period, these download rentals expire through digital rights management. Before customers spend over $20 on a hard-to-find DVD, they can download it from TotalVid for a fraction of the cost. If they like it and want to buy the DVD version from TotalVid, the cost of the download is refunded. In addition, customers receive the permanent download version - free of expiration.
