My bet, it's not a typical Internet streaming process.....but a download to memory(flash in particular)....where the end user has complete control of the movie......FF....RW....pause....etc.

With that, the same principles and interface could be utilized for a volatile memory as well.

IMO, the memory type is not important, the principles are.

It's a matter of what data you want retained and that which you do not.
