Specualtion that the airlines have already purchased some number of units assumed....
This is just my guess based on the OEM biz I do in a different consumer products segment. If customer airline A bought digEplayers they would not want to announce anything until they were ready to deploy the players. They might look silly saying, ``Fly with us now, but later you will have an even better flying experience `cause we are going to have these cool new toys.`` Airline A will not want any Wencor announcement and that works for Wencor as well. Kool Aid drinkers just don`t like it. I know that part well.
In addtion, if airline A announced before deployment, then potential airline B might tell Wencor to shove it `cause airline B believes they are better than airline A and should have a better digEplayer. These units can, and I believe most are, customized. Remember, Airline B has other non-Wencor options.
The Wencor competitors are saying nice things like, ``Hey, so you don`t want a cool installed system like profitable JetBlue? You want those hard to handle plastic thingys that soon to be broke Alaska Air is using. Right? Oh, I think one of those little charter guys may have a few as well. Have you asked if they work all day and all night like our system -- you still fly overseas and cross country don`t you? Do your FAs want to do more work for less money? Some of our profitable customers say their FAs don`t want to handle the players or the money or the hassle. Ask your FA union rep if they mind doing more for less. Our system allows them more time to sell the duty free goodies you get a piece of, does that plastic thingy?``
Give Wencor some credit. There is a very small group of IFE providers, they do not need public announcements to know what is going on with new products. There current and potential customer will keep them informed as to features, weight, and pricing -- all to Wencor`s benefit as far as we know.
Hey, that`s worth more than $0.02, it`s worth at least a share of EDIG -- please call B4541 to remit.
