Labs are great dogs as well and would be my 2nd choice, as I am partial to Standard Poodles as you are to Labs.

Funny about the news paper. I have a friend who's 12 year old Lab does this too, but not 100 yards away! That's pretty amazing.

Labs are great with kids too.

They make terrific guide dogs for the blind, and assistants for the handi capped, over all just plain smart breed.

Now if I only knew a Lab or Standard Poodle that could go pick up the PPS of EDIG, that would really be something!
