2008 EDIG ASM reports by vdriver

I was there. In a nutshell:

There was no webcast due to the "very interesting nature of talks" (paraphrasing) taking place at this time.

Fred gave a basic overview of the eVu business; nothing real earth-shattering there. Hospitals, cruise lines, etc are still possibilities. A trial with a hospital a couple of years ago was very successful. He didn't say, and nobody thought to ask, why they didn't seal a deal. eVu has lots of advantages over competing offerings from other IFE vendors (battery life, etc..).

Pat Nunally gave a very good presentation on the IP monetization process. RP said he is "very, very confident" of one or more settlements before "any Markmans or litigation".

All in all it was a good meeting; I came out feeling very confident, especially after hearing Dr. Nunally give his presentation.

There was probably about 40 or so people there.

Lol...I almost felt sorry for Fred; at the end during question & answer nobody asked about the eVu...yet Dr. Nunally was questioned relentlessly..very interesting stuff.

He spoke almost entirely of the '774 patent, "A handheld device using flash memory as a recording medium" (or whatever the correct title is)...basically, anything with a slot for a memory card is suspect.

They present it to the suspected offender step by step by bringing along a copy of the patent, & comparing it to the spec sheet/schematic of the device:

1. Microphone? Check.

2. Memory Card slot? Check.

3. Accompanying circuitry? Check.

4. etc etc...right on down the line.

5. You obviously infringe. Want a license?

Mr. Blakely was there but didn't say much of anything. He did answer when asked about military applications for the eVu. They presented it to both the Navy & Army/Air Force. They wanted it on carriers for the navy, but couldn't get anybody high enough up the chain of command to ok it.

Keeping in mind what RP said about no webcast, 'cuz talks were "at a very interesting point", they weren't gonna say squat about any specifics regarding the lawsuits. All of the defendants were mentioned once or twice, but no details.

It's up to DM to file when they see fit, because they're footing the bill for the whole mess.

My guess as to why WB didn't do much at the meeting - and it's only a guess - would be that that both FF & RP have done a bunch of them, and maybe WB hasn't? Maybe he wanted to see one first, before taking a more active roll at the next??

Some of the BOD were there - Cucomelli, and I think one other..
