Senate Approves IP Rights Act

Law360, New York (September 26, 2008) -- The U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bill Friday that, if signed into law, would beef up U.S. Department of Justice resources to protect intellectual property – but only after a provision that would have authorized the attorney general to prosecute civil copyright cases was removed.

The U.S. of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the reworked version of the Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights Act of 2008, or S. 3325, later on Friday....
