Message: Possible new application?

IMO.....Dtv(digital Tv) is going to be detrimental to the hard wire type orgnizations.....Comcast...Verizon.....

It'll have limited content as the normal VHF/UHF has now....

What Dtv is...if you have a TV with rabbit ears and do not subscribe to a satellite or cable service.

"You'll need to take action if you want to continue watching most TV programming after Feb. 17, 2009.

Your options include:

Option 1. Free
Converter boxes convert digital TV signals into analog TV signals so that you can continue viewing your local broadcast channels like NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX. There are many converter boxes available ranging in price from $40 to $70 plus tax. Certain boxes are eligible for $40 off through the government coupon program.

You might also require a new over-the-air antenna. The correct make/model of antenna varies by location so visit antennaweb.org to figure out which antenna is best for your location. We also recommend that you contact a professional installer to help with any roof-top antenna installation.

One such coupon-eligible converter box is DTVPal by DISH Network. DTVPal is eligible for $40 off with your government coupon. DTVPal has analog pass-through—allowing you to watch both analog and digital channels plus it has a FREE on-screen program guide, parental locks, closed-captioning and more. Visit www.dtvpal.com for more information."

Option 2. Pay

subscribe to a satellite or cable service.

As you can see...the new over-the-air antenna varies by location so as a portable device it may not work in all areas.

With that, is it a good application? Debatable

I do feel the content over time will improve as it evolves...putting the hurt on subscribition services.
