Syntax-Brillian Corporation Announces Intention To Sell Vivitar

Vivitar Excluded From Syntax-Brillian's Chapter 11 Filing;
Continues to Conduct Business as Usual
TEMPE, Ariz.--(Business Wire)--
Syntax-Brillian Corporation (NASDAQ:BRLC), a leading manufacturer
and marketer of LCD HDTVs, digital cameras, and consumer electronics
products, announced today that it has initiated a process for the sale
of Vivitar, the Company's brand of digital still and video cameras.
The sale process will occur separately from Syntax-Brillian's Chapter
11 filing announced today. Vivitar is excluded from the Chapter 11
filing and continues to conduct business as usual.
Syntax-Brillian has appointed KPMG Corporate Finance LLC to advise
in the sale process.
The Company will have no further comment until the completion of
the sale process.

Sakar International, an Edison-based consumer-electronics manufacturer, said today it has bought the Vivitar brand name and associated intellectual property from Vivitar’s parent company, Syntax-Brillian Corp. of Tempe, Ariz. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Sakar said it will market Vivitar cameras for between $70 and $300 each. The company also said it plans to launch other Vivitar-branded products, including camera accessories and digital photo frames, and explore licensing opportunities.
Vivitar was founded in 1938 and Syntax-Brillian bought the company in 2006, according to Sakar.
Sakar currently holds licenses for major brand franchises including Crayola, Hello Kitty, Star Wars, Spiderman and The Incredible Hulk, it said.
