As you all know some time ago, I mean (SOME TIME AGO) when I was a boy I think, I promised if EDig ever hit $30 I would hold an all expenses paid golf tournament in America's Finest City, San Diego, at The Home of the 2008 US Open, Torrey Pines Golf Course for all those EDiggers deemed worthy of an invitation. (Yes, that definitely means you LL. You are at the top of the list) That generally means all of youse guyz that post here regularly and are known by all as "patient, long suffering but positive shareholders".
I came, quite reluctantly, to the conclusion that I might not be here, or anywhere for that matter if I waited for EDig to obtain that lofty figure of $30.00 a share, and since I did wish to have this "get together" I lowered my striking price from EDig achieving a quite unobtainable figure that high to what I thought was a more appropriate one of $22.00 a share. Well that went by the wayside and I lowered the striking price again to $12.00, much more reasonable I might add.
All this took place when gas was $1.50 a gallon, roundtrip from LA to New York was in the $3 to $400 range. When I could get a hotel room at the Sheriton, (right on the golf course overlooking the 18th) for $150.00 a night. When a dinner at a first rate restaurant cost $20-$30 per person......etc.....
No longer. I had intended to spend in the neighborhood of $300,000 ++ and had an invitation list of 75 EDiggers with their "significant others" and was going to provide "everything" including "surprises".
It was going to be a 5 day event (if it ever occurs I will supply the details) and the reason for only 75 plus "significan others) is simply that is all I can handle in a two day golf tournament. By the way my only personal choices would be 5 of you to act as a selection committee for the other 70.
Prices are now completely out of control. Gas is $4.00 - 4.50 a gallon, air fares have doubled and tripled, my favorite restaurant has doubled the price of my favorite steak and the Sheraton laughed at me when I asked if I could still get the same price for a gathering of 150 + people. That $300,000 is now closer to $500,000.
So rest assured I am as deeply committed to meeting all of you and holding this Golf Extravaganza" as I ever have been. AND I STILL BELIEVE THERE IS AN EXCELLANT CHANCE IT WILL TAKE PLACE, but not $12.00 a share.
Even though I have many more shares than I held then $500,000 is a lot of money for a party unless one is operating with "monopoly money".
I am raising my strike price to $17.00 a share and am doing so now so as not to be accused of "MOVING THE GOALPOSTS" when this dream of ours, EDig, starts its move.
Of course there are many of you who have many more shares than I have so if EDig hits $10.00 or $12.00 and you wish to pool some of this "monopoly money" of yours to hold this gathering I will still contribute my share and run the show. Lets see what happens..
