I now note that this PR originated in Utah. Based on this I would suspect that the 2:15 time given is for that time zone.

Here `tis:

Wencor introduces the digEsystem; the most advanced embedded IFE system

on the market

1 April 2005

M2 Presswire

SPRINGVILLE, Utah - Wencor is launching the digEsystem, a lightweight,

state of the art in-seat In-flight Entertainment (IFE) system at the

Interiors Show in Hamburg, Germany on April 5. The new system gives

passengers a wide spectrum of cabin entertainment options, including

Audio/Video On Demand (AVOD). Airlines save over half the fuel costs as

the digEsystem weighs one third of traditional IFE systems. It only

consumes one third of the power.

The digEsystem is modular and can standalone in an embedded IFE

environment. Airlines now have the option to provide entertainment to

any cabin, zone, seat or passenger on any flight, on any aircraft.

The system is flexible, scalable, and configurable with a 60 GB hard

drive, and 802.11a wireless technology network, making it easy to change

content. An USB 2.0 port is provided for optional passenger control

devices for games, keyboards, and memory sticks (future).

``We think the digEsystem is going to make a significant mark on the IFE

industry,`` said Brent Wood, CEO of Wencor. ``The cutting edge design,

ease of use and wide variety of entertainment choices on the digEsystem

will make passenger`s flying experience better than ever. No other

system on the market has so much to offer.``

A credit card reader allows the capture of funds, easing flight

attendants involvement. Once a plane lands for the day, credit card

transactions can be transferred via an encrypted wireless network. The

unit comes with an eight inch Liquid Crystal Display with a touchscreen

that gives passengers easy access to all content options.

The system is typically programmed with movies, television shows,

cartoons, videos, music, as well as airline destination information,

promotions and advertising that can provide another avenue for

generating revenue for airlines

Content can be refreshed often, giving even the most frequent flyers

enough programming variety to meet their needs. Films are usually

available three months ahead of store rentals. Many films are available

in multiple languages.

See the newest products in Hall 7 space D3 at the Aircraft Interiors

Show in Hamburg. Press conference at the show at 2:15pm on Wednesday

afternoon - Aircraft Interiors Show.
