I believe a Radome-based system would involve a aerodynamic pod installed on top of the fuselage to gather transmissions (Lockheed once a a plane called a Radome that had a huge disc-like pod on top of the fuselage for mass info gathering/transmission - electronic warfare and sensoring type stuff).
And didn`t I suggest the provider would be DirectTV or Connexion the other day. Remember (as of ten years ago), 80% of satellites aloft were built by Hughes. They own many of them and ``rent`` space to Gov`t and commercial users. However, I believe the DTV satellites are different (not shared), dedicated to TV transmission and internet connectivity (a new DTV dish can do both, though I`m not sure whether they`re just still receive-only), and geo-stationary.
Hope this helps.....
