Margis to lead Panasonic Avionics
April 3, 2005 – MATSUSHITA veteran Paul Margis has been named president of the newly rebranded Panasonic Avionics Corporation.
The top engineer at the former Matsushita Avionics Systems (MAS) since 1992, he takes up his new post at a time when the company’s dominance of the IFE systems market is being challenged as never before by a resurgent Thales and the emergence of the handheld systems. Among his priorities will be repairing the damage done to the company’s standing by its loss last year at Air Canada, where it was ousted by Thales.
Margis succeeds Takashi Mizuma, MAS president since 1999. Mizuma has been appointed director of Panasonic Avionics Group, overseeing the Avionics business unit and developing new strategic quality and growth initiatives.
