Carburetors are not utilized in modern vehicles, e.Digitals tech could be utilized for electronic fuel injection systems. However, there's not much that could be tweaked by anyone at this point...I'd say modern EFI systems are within 5% of full efficiency, as far a fuel management goes.

If there's any room for improvement, it would have to be better geometry / timing of rotating assemblies, for American designs. The Asians have them beat in this department.

It will be interesting to see where things go with the rotary type engine designs of Mazda.
