Jetstar, Qantas` low cost domestic airline, said it would charge $10 per unit on longer flights and less for short haul services.
Both airlines said they will update programs on the entertainment systems every 60 days.
Pacific Blue will begin phasing in the players from late May, with the devices to be available on all flights from June 13.
Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey said Pacific Blue would be the first airline in the southern hemisphere to have the systems on board.
