In October last year Lufthansa introduced its Business Jet all-business-class service on the Frankfurt-New York Newark route. Among the amenities offered to passengers are eVU handheld IFE players provided by e.Digital of California, along with a seat that reclines to provide a near-horizontal 6ft 6in-long sleeping surface, a large tabletop, and in-seat power and lighting.
Also offered in business class on Lufthansa’s Airbus A300-600 long-haul flights, the eVU player offers a selection of Hollywood films, audio channels and a variety of games, obtainable via a graphical user interface in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Russian or Arabic.
The German carrier first introduced Business Jet on Düsseldorf-Newark in 2002. Since then it has been extended to Munich-Newark and Düsseldorf-Chicago. The Düsseldorf routes are served with 48-seat Airbus A319LRs, Munich-Newark originally with a 44-seat Boeing 737. The latter has since been replaced with a three-class Airbus A330-300 to accommodate what Lufthansa describes as increased demand in all categories on the route.
