March completes rollout of United`s p.s. service Customer praise for p.s. spurs a new San Francisco frequency
CHICAGO, March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United announced today that all of its transcontinental, nonstop flights between New York and California now are served by p.s.(SM), the airline`s premium coast-to-coast service launched in October of last year.
Strong customer response to p.s. has driven United to launch an additional frequency between San Francisco and New York-John F. Kennedy, which began on March 8.
``p.s. is a prime example of United`s commitment to delivering innovative, excellent service for its customers,`` says Dennis Cary, senior vice president- Marketing. ``The feedback from our p.s. customers in its first five months is a strong indicator that we are on the right track.``
In its initial months, p.s. has impressed some of United`s most discriminating customers. In internal studies, customers have rated the service significantly higher than for United`s previous transcontinental service the year before (which was replaced by p.s.). These frequent travelers have expressed great appreciation for the enhanced level of service provided on p.s.; the superior comfort, technology and entertainment features available onboard; and dining comparable to that on international flights.
The new San Francisco p.s. daily frequency operates as United Flight 72, departing New York-JFK at 7:40 a.m. and arriving in San Francisco at 11:05 a.m. On the return, United Flight 76 departs San Francisco at 12:20 p.m. and arrives in New York at 8:37 p.m. With this new frequency, there are now seven daily p.s. flights between San Francisco and New York and seven between Los Angeles and New York. A full schedule of p.s. service is available online at united.com.
The premium service aimed at coast-to-coast, high-end business travelers launched between Los Angeles and New York in October of last year and started serving San Francisco in December. p.s. customers fly on reconfigured three- class B757 aircraft, which offer 12 lie-flat seats in United First® -- the only domestic lie-flat seats between New York and the West Coast, 26 wide leather seats in United Business® and United Economy Plus® seating for all 72 seats in the coach cabin.
To provide customers with a superior level of service, p.s. offers access to an adapter-free 110-volt power outlet, phone and e-mail from every seat. To help customers pass the time, p.s. offers premium onboard entertainment, including hand-held DVD players and noise-reduction headsets to United First and United Business customers. Customized onboard video programming is available to customers in all classes of service via United`s overhead entertainment system.
