That may be for desk top PC's...where SDRAM is no problem and for the most part,  there's legacy issue that will be around for some time to come allowing Applications based on SDRAM. For the future of battery powered devices I see differently....where, IMO,  it will adapt change much more quickly. The main difference being, that the FLASH preform the tasks of the SDRAM with the help of STATIC RAM(SRAM).

NO large RAM resource needed. e.Digital is making this happen now with multimedia Applications involving video and audio. 

 They are creating and manipulating data directly in the flash as primary memory, where normally this is performed with DRAM.

 Will e.Digital be able to partition off an SSD to do such a thing...I say yes....one flash does all.

 e.Digital utilizes flash as primary memory as well as storage through their controller devise.
