"hope we go beyond voice files, editing implies much more to."

Yes it does....video creation and manipulation would work in the same manner.

Visualize the aged methods of creating an audio/video file and committing the generated frequency process to a linear magnetic strip of cellophane.

An analogy of e.Digital's  process would be...

From the analog input,  through a digital conversion...."formally a generated frequency" ....then pushed through a small micro-controller/cache...in order to make the read /writes to the linear (serial) flash, formally a "linear strip of cellophane."

The micro-controller/cache process in their IP is the key...it does not utilize dedicated or dynamically allocated working memory in the same manner most applications do.

The process is very linear just like the aged tape recorder....with a twist. Through the Micro-controller/cache process they can feed the digital signals generated in an organized fashion to the flash without having to create the files through dedicated or dynamically allocated working memory normally associated with computing, or,  the virtual bit mapping normally associated to keep track of the organization of data segments.
