gernb1.....very good.....nice to see a writer be some what more identifying.
"But you will still need to have the critical intellectual property and controller technology"
I note, the writer labels Intel and Micron as separate entities. Instead of identifying IM flash as the source of their combined effort....where, Lexar supplies the controller technology.
The hardware is not a real problem, the abstract (software/bios) within, is. The hardware is a conformable process to the ability of the abstract. It all depends on how it relates to the higher level OS format and normally associated bit mapping. This process normally consumes power utilizing large RAM resource.
With that, when it comes to a serial process(NAND) the problem is more pivotal for other reasons.
E.digitals process does not bit map or utilize large RAM resource.
It all comes down to the platform drives are to be utilized within...and considerations of power consumption.
e.Digital formatting a standard HDD rotating platform and getting 20 Hrs play time, speaks volumes of what they will do with flash based drives.
