Yes...it is prone to bad read/write blocks. If one read/write block is bad the whole array(erase block) is normally marked bad. In this case...a 32 or 64.... (512byte)array is trashed.

e.Digital individually marks a bad read/write blocks without trashing the whole eraseblock.

As for fault tolerance....they do not bit map the flash with virtual files.
