No...I don`t remember that. When were you a kid in Kentucky? Was WWL a network affiliate?
I was born in 1937, in a log cabin in SE Kentucky I might add (no joke). I would have been listening to this program in the late 40s. I don`t know if it was on a network but I could pick it up at night directly in a battery powered tube radio. (We didn`t get electricity until about 1950.) The battery was a dry cell almost as big as a car battery I recall. I remember Bugling Sam Dekimel and also a clairnet player named Pee Wee Spidelaro. (I never saw either name in print so I have no idea about the correct spelling.) But I remember the announcer saying, `` . . . direct from the Blue Room in the beautiful Roosevelt Hotel in downtown New Orleans`` or something like that. Anyway, Sam could play jazz on a WW2 army bugle.
