If the patent laws are changed as much as you say,  it will effect the big boys alot more than the little e.Digitals.  How many patents do Lucent, ATT, IBM. Sony, and the rest of the teck industry have.  I'm sure they are going to just sit back and watch ther patent portfolio disappere.
