I don't remember who it was that posted the job leads a while back, but I applied for and had two interviews for the project manager position. Unfortunately I got word today that I was not picked for the job, so since I am not an insider anymore here is what I learned while there. Fred and Will are the sales team. While I was there they were talking about a big Asian airline who they were doing a trial with, that should turn into another sale. While interviewing with Fred I asked about Mezzo, and they are very happy with them, and one good thing that I did not know is that everytime we go back to them to refresh content, Edig gets paid for it. Also, Mezzo and others can order the content they want, Edig goes to the third party content provider"They don't get it directly from the studios" and they fill the order. It's pretty cool how they do it, they get an actual DVD that is uploaded to all the units via a serial cable interface with an adapter I have never seen before. They have also recently created there at Edig a box that can plug like four or five units into, they refresh them, pull it out when complete and then put another one in and they don't have to wait for the others to finish while doing it. Another thing I found out is that many Digeplayer customers are not happy with the service they have been getting at Digecor and are coming back to Edig. Fred said it looks like we went after them, but we didn't they came to us, I took that as a very good sign. Also, like Sunpoop a few years ago I saw a white board with a bunch of names on it, and unfortunately the only one I can remember was "Air France." I didn't want to look like I was scoping out customer names. Another thing I remembered is that the airlines, especially on long hauls, love the eVu because of the battery life, they can use it outbound and back and not have to recharge until they are back. The reason they were looking for a project manager is basically to take the load off of Will and Fred because they are travelling a lot to Europe and Asia, and also to cover the home base when they are gone. I asked why we have not gone after more domestic airlines, and Fred told me that they did it's just that they are all so broke they could not afford to implement the eVu, so thats why they are concentrating on Europe and Asia. Did not get anything about the IP Infringment, and my memory won't bear any more fruit right now, maybe some questions will jog my memory, see you in the morning. |
