It was unique concept, not a compliation of other ideas from other sources. That stands to reason because no-one else has been able to copy it or take "ideas from other sources", tweak them a bit and arrive at their own version of a MOS. EDig would NOT be involved in suing 174 companies for its IP infringement if there were a number of other operating systems out there that were the same, just tweaked a bit, or different but performed the same function.
