Dec 22 '05- New President William Blakeley makes no mention of patent efforts...

Feb 14 '06-1st PATENT mention-e.Digital further announced today that it has initiated efforts to partner with an intellectual property management company to jointly pursue monetizing the company’s patent portfolio.

Feb 27 '06-EDIG announced financing for company business included financing its patent efforts:

"The company expects to use the proceeds from this financing to speed the roll-out of its new, proprietary eVU™ mobile entertainment product and turnkey entertainment services business to U.S. and international companies in the healthcare and travel and leisure industries, and to military organizations, as well as fund its efforts to partner with an intellectual property management company to jointly pursue monetizing the company’s flash memory management-based patent portfolio, and for general working capital.

March 30 '06-Blakeley begins the monitizing and focusing on the process.

"Addressing e.Digital’s recently announced efforts to monetize its flash memory-related patent portfolio, Blakeley commented, “According to research from CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, global demand for flash memory is expected to reach $25 billion this year, due mainly to the rapid proliferation of handheld devices. We believe the timing and climate are right for us to pursue monetizing our flash memory-related patent portfolio which we believe contains fundamental and valuable claims regarding the use of embedded and removable flash memory in portable devices.”

e.Digital holds five flash memory-related patents (#5,491,774, #5,742,737, #5,787,445, #5,839,108, #5,842,170--The assignee name on four of the patents is Norris Communications, now known as e.Digital Corporation--The assignee name on the fifth patent is Comp General Corporation, a then-wholly owned subsidiary of Norris Communications).

May 30 '06-Blakeley's biz update further focuses on patent progress, identifies key patent.

The preliminary independent evaluations we have received to date on our flash memory-related patents and claims are encouraging, particularly on our #5,491,774 patent. Based on this progress, and with the assistance of outside parties, we are beginning an intensive three-month process to identify the products and companies that may be utilizing our intellectual property and attempt to determine a monetary value on our claims and patents as they relate to the revenues being generated by these products.

June 27 '06- Pat Nunally enters the EDIG picture.

e.Digital Corporation (OTC: EDIG), a leading innovator of proprietary, secure digital video technology and products, and patented technology in the utilization of flash memory in portable devices, announced today that it has contracted with wireless and intellectual property (IP) veteran, Pat Nunally, to lead e.Digital’s efforts in identifying products and companies that may be utilizing the Company’s flash memory-related IP and preparing e.Digital’s patent portfolio for monetization.

June 29 '06-Blakeley further comments and focuses on actual product lines.

Blakeley remarked, “With the assistance of IP veteran, Pat Nunally, and other outside groups and firms, we are identifying potential licensees in the cell phone, PDA/Pocket PC, portable A/V recorder, digital camera, camcorder, and other portable device industries

August 14 '06-Outside law firms together with Nunally mentioned...

“Over the last month, we have had productive IP consultations with several well-respected intellectual property law firms. We believe there is significant interest in prosecuting our patent portfolio on a contingency basis. With the assistance of IP veteran, Pat Nunally, management and outside law firms have been conducting patent due diligence while evaluating the licensing potential to companies in the cell phone, PDA/Pocket PC, portable A/V recorder, digital camera, camcorder, and other portable device industries. Based on results to date, we are encouraged about the prospects of beginning the licensing process to monetize our important patent portfolio this calendar year.”

Dec 21 '06- Blakeley delivers on identifying infringer/product numbers.

Because our flash memory-related patent portfolio covers hundreds of companies and thousands of products and extends our rights under the patents until 2015, the law firms we have contacted are being very thorough in their searches for prior art and their due diligence of our patent portfolio.

Under the direction of veteran intellectual property (IP) consultant, Pat Nunally, and with the assistance of outside law firms, we have assembled the first comprehensive list of potential licensees of our flash memory-based patent portfolio. To date, we have identified 174 companies with 1,372 products that appear to employ our patent portfolio.

Jan 8 '07- Blakeley announces access for up to $8.5 million of capital to finance operations, including patent efforts.

"Commenting on the Fusion agreement, Will Blakeley, e.Digital’s president and chief technology officer said, “This agreement with Fusion Capital comes at an opportune time by providing us with the flexible financial backing to help us grow our business, fulfill volume eVU orders, and increase eVU backlog in the healthcare, travel and entertainment industries. We also expect to focus resources on licensing our flash memory patent portfolio to the 174 companies we have identified to date in the cell phone, PDA/Pocket PC, portable A/V recorder, digital camera, camcorder and other portable device industries, that appear to employ our portfolio.

Feb 13 '07-Blakeley sets timeline to reveal IP developments

Blakeley concluded, “Our strategy is to rapidly grow our eVU revenues through increased marketing efforts and to exploit through licensing our important portfolio of patents related to the use of flash memory in portable devices. We look forward to announcing new eVU business and portfolio-related IP developments this quarter and throughout the year.”

************************************...

I'd say the next two weeks in particular look to be very interesting. We are over one year into the patent process and an IP expert, outside legal firms and 174 infringers with 1372 products have been indentified with management stating further information is to surface this quarter and beyond.

Blakeley wastes no time focusing EDIG on what will increase its value, from dealing with Mezzo while leaving EDIG to pursue further eVU opportunities while at the same time pursuing the hidden value in the company, the patents.

I may have to buy more ! lol.
