I believe you are right about any current implication.  The record label crowd was -- and still is -- very slow to react.  Steve Jobs showed what a serious marketing campaign could do for portable music.  Now, the front edge of the market has moved on to multi functional devices.  Why carry an MP3 player AND a cell phone?

IMO, the more the portable device needs quick access and low battery power consumption added to a proven secure format, the more EDIG has an opportunity.  They are certainly not the only player in the game, but a little success could go a long way toward getting Willy and gang an additional revenue stream.  The jury is still out on this one.  Growing eVU numbers and revenues will show us if EDIG is on track.  The compnay communications point toward a positve future, but the Q reports will have to be the way I keep score.

The recorded music industry has operated the same way for many years.  It is going to change in a radical way over the next five years as music radio becomes the second choice for breaking new artists.  That could mean a lot more digital music players / cell phones / PDAs / video players will be on the market with heavy duty marketing.

How many people want to pay $15 for a CD so they can have the one or two songs they like?  Today, it costs only $1.98 to get both legally.  Big difference = big changes to come from the content side.  Add movie studios and TV networks and we get a large pile of folks looking for a way to make a dime where they once made a dollar.
