The amazing thing is that nearly everything depicted in that movie actually happened! (in some fashion). There was an unidentified plane that was flying over LA, and was shot down. There was a surfaced submarine attack near Santa Barbara (not at PCP).

The latter had an interesting history.... The commander of the sub, before the war, was a tanker ship captain. On one of his visits to Elwood oil facility, he was somehow humiliated/lost face. Enter WWII, he becomes a sub commander and decides to ``get even`` with those jerks at Elwood. He passed up better targets along the CA coast and surfaces at Elwood, fires many rounds and destroys the worf, submerges and leaves - vendicated. There is a marker of this event at Sandpiper Golf Course, just south of Elwood, which is a little north of Santa Barbara/Goleta. The debris from the worf was used to build the Timbers restuarant, where I had lunch weekly for about 10 years.

As for the trip to the ASM, better line up more passengers or we`ll be riding the ``short bus``! BUT, when y`all come to pick up me and Kimba, we should plan it so you wine lovers can eat/drink at the Hitching Post and spend the night/pass out at the Windmill a la ``Sideways``.

Nuttin` is a friend of mine; I KNOW him well.
