Again, this goes to the concept of a continued proliferation of handheld products based on improving flash memory capabilities. How Nunally will paint the picture remains to be seen, but should they substantiate their claims, there should be plenty of infringers, along with a growing array of products, to chase for some time to come. Again, for those who can conceptualize, there is no direct tie to this article at this point in time...and I state that in order to diffuse personal attacks and focus back on the investment's future, which is why we bother to be here at all...save a handful of loons. Waiting for Godot...lol. Microsoft certifies Samsung flash SSD drives Sean Shim EE Times (10/17/2006 10:31 AM EDT) SEOUL, South Korea — Samsung Electronics said Tuesday (Oct. 17) that three of its flash solid-state disk (SSD) drives have been certified by Microsoft for use in Windows-compatible peripherals. Microsoft validated that Samsung's SSDs meet its requirements for Windows storage media, according to Samsung. Samsung SSDs have a data read speed of 57 Mbytes/s and a write speed of 32 Mbytes/s, which Samsung claims is more than double the performance of a 1.8-inch hard drive. The 50-fold speed increase is expected to reduce system boot time and speed up many Window-compatible applications SSD power usage rates in operational mode are less than 0.5 W and 40 mW in sleep mode, extended battery life by up to 30 minutes, Samsung claimed. Microsoft has certified two versions of Samsung's 32-Gbyte, 1.8-inch SSD and a 16-Gbyte version. The new sizes support sub-notebook PCs, Samsung added.
