Interesting. I was at Big Box retailer`s buying offices recently and was told by the buyer that they were going to add new models from the ``cell phone in my MP3 player`` category for consumer Holiday sales. They never mentioned a decline in iPod biz.

On the business application side, it will not surprise me to see a pile of new smart phones on the market sooner than later. Most of the development costs have been covered and the ``Crackberry Craze`` seems to point to a growing market for better keyboads and more biz friendly features. HP / Cingular / Verizon have better than Blackberry models (IMO) now. http://estore.vzwshop.com/search/devices/vzw_xv6700.html More to come.

Is there any chance EDIG could get a piece of this market?

Selling stuff is still a very good idea for EDIG. IP licenses will come much later, IMO, if at all. EDIG needs the cash flow to keep from going back to the printing press again. With higher margins on direct sales, they won`t need blockbuster deals to maintain their current business, but they need to start somewhere -- and it might be nice to get an update on their sales results of late. I certainly thought Willy had a deal or two in his pocket with the ``shipping volume orders soon`` noise. Maybe we will only see the numbers in a Q report, maybe not. We don`t know who is pulling EDIG`s chain these days, but some hint of shipped / shipping orders would be high on my list of good things to see. Of course, EDIG has never run on my time line, so we wait.

I like the idea that EDIG has a chance to sell high margin product into the IFE market -- if for no other reason than to stick a red hot poker into the Wencor management team and BOD. However, I believe the closed end systems can work should EDIG have had / is having any sales sucess. Another, time will tell all kinda thingy.
